École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)

EPFL is one of the two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology. With over 350 laboratories and research groups on campus, EPFL is one of Europe’s most innovative and productive scientific institutions. Ranked top 3 in Europe and top 15 worldwide in many scientific rankings, EPFL has attracted the best researchers in their fields combining fundamental research and engineering.

HOT is coordinated by EPFL at the Laboratory of Photonics and Quantum Measurements led by Prof. Tobias Kippenberg. Research at LPQM is aimed at extending quantum control to micro- and nano-mechanical oscillators in views of manipulating and measuring mechanical oscillators in the quantum regime, as well as quantum enhanced applications of such oscillators. It will primarily contribute to HOT through the development of monolithic hybrid transducers, and a minor effort in realizing cryogenic microwave non-reciprocal devices utilising engineered dissipative mechanical reservoirs for microwave light.
